Winning Streak Extended to 9 in a Row with WDG Sweep of Pistons GT

Wizards District Gaming extended its winning streak to nine games in a row with a 2-0 series sweep of Pistons GT on Thursday night. WDG took a close Game 1 with a 66-61 victory and completed the sweep with a 70-56 win in Game 2. Newdini was named the McDonald’s Player of the Night with performances of 14 points and six rebounds in Game 1 and 18 points and 13 rebounds in Game 2.

Game 1 was a close contest throughout, with WDG’s 22-15 advantage in the first quarter the largest point difference in any period of the ballgame. Four of starters scored in double-figures for WDG, led by JBM’s 19 points and 11 assists. Dayfri added 16 points on eight-for-eight shooting and 11 rebounds.

Game 2 saw WDG jump out to a 20-12 lead, only to have Pistons GT answer back with a 16-10 advantage in the second quarter. The entire contest was back-and-forth heading into the fourth quarter, where WDG held a narrow 50-45 lead.

In the fourth quarter, WDG went on an 18-0 run to start the period and remove any question about the outcome. The 70-56 final score capped off another sweep for WDG and pushed the team’s record to 13-3 on the season, good for best in the Eastern Conference and the highest winning percentage in the entire NBA 2K League.
