Patrick Crossan Named Team Manager for Wizards District Gaming

WASHINGTON, D.C.  – Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE) and Wizards District Gaming announced today that they have named Patrick Crossan as the team manager of Wizards DG beginning with its inaugural season as a member of the NBA 2K League in 2018.

Crossan brings a wealth of 2K experience to Wizards DG as the co-founder and co-leader of the NBA 2K Pro-Am Team Throwdown and a manager for Throwdown’s 2017 developmental team, ThrowdownRed. As a player, he was an NBA 2K16 250k Road to the Finals Tournament Qualifier and an MBPA Classic Tournament Runner-Up in 2017.

“I couldn’t be more excited to have Patrick on board as the team manager for Wizards District Gaming,” said Grant Paranjape, Director of Esports Business and Team Operations at MSE. “After an incredible outpouring of interest for this position, I believe we have found the perfect combination of esports knowledge, team management ability, and inherent 2K knowledge with Patrick. Working together, I am confident that we will be able to select the top players for our organization, facilitate an effective practice environment, and ultimately bring home a championship to the District.”

As part of this role, Crossan will manage the scrimmage schedule for the team, evaluate opponents and implement strategy, assess players and track progress, and work closely with executive leadership to support Wizards DG with communication, gameplay, physical and mental regiments, while fostering a cohesive team environment.

“Once I heard that the NBA 2K League was becoming a reality, my ultimate goal was to be a manager for a team,” Crossan said. “Although I still love playing and felt like I could have been drafted as a player, I was driven by the impact I could have as a manger in making our team successful. I want to thank Zach Leonsis and Grant Paranjape for giving me this opportunity. They stressed they want the best players and best people to play for Wizads DG and that resonated with my vision for the team as well.”

The NBA 2K League, a joint venture between the NBA and Take-Two Interactive, is a professional esports league featuring the best 2K players in the world. The 2K League’s inaugural season, which will feature 17 teams, will take place in 2018, beginning with a league qualifier in January to determine players for a combine in February, followed by a draft in March, and tip-off in May.
